ARTIST'S NOTE

대학을 졸업하고 나서야 세상을 둘러보기 시작했다. 동서남북 모든 방향에서 지옥이 보였다. 벽이 세워진 자리에는 어김없이 무자비한, 그러나 ‘공인된’ 폭력이 모습을 드러냈다. 사람들을 어디론가 계속 쫓겨났다. 가까이 다가가 그들의 손을 잡아주지도 못하면서 마음만 아팠다. 이 모든 상황을 애도하고 싶다. 이 작품을 보는 사람들의 마음속에 강정마을, 세월호, 밀양, 옥바라지 골목 등의 단어가 한 번이라도 떠올랐으면.

When I graduated from university, I began to look around the world for the first time. Everywhere, I saw hell on earth. Where there were walls, where was always "sanctioned" brutality. People were always being chased away to someplace else. I felt awful as I was powerless to reach out and help them. I wanted to lament those terrible things. I hope people who see this film think about such as Gangjeong village, Sewol Ferry, Miryang and Okbaraji Alley.
