DESCRIPTION

<거리측정> 은 모나 하툼의 초기 작품 주제인 가족, 이동 그리고 여성성을 그리고 있다. 본 작품은 15분 길이이며, 하툼의 어머니가 샤워를 하는 모습을 긴밀하게 촬영한 컬러 사진으로 구성되어 있다. 하툼은 어머니의 사진들과 그녀로 부터 받은 편지들을 겹쳐 작품에 녹여낸다.   

Measures of Distance illustrates Hatoum's early themes of family, displacement, and female sexuality. The video piece itself is fifteen minutes long and consists of intimate, colored photographs of Hatoum's mother showering. Hatoum overlays the photographs with letters from her mother to Hatoum.
