[2023 네마프] ALT Cinema & Media Choice Program Glocal Section/Long-length Section Finals Announcement

제23회 서울국제대안영상예술페스티벌 대안영상예술 선정프로그램 한국 부문 및 장편 부문(국외) 본선진출작을 발표합니다.

We are announcing the final entry of the NeMaf ALT Cinema & Media Choice Program Glocal Section/Long-length Section!

 

올해 서울국제대안영상예술페스티벌에는 총 1,053편(상영 984편, 전시 69편)의 작품이 출품되었습니다.
2023년 4월 1일부터 5월 10일까지 한 달이라는 짧은 기간 동안에도 불구하고 출품해주신 다채로운 작품들을 공정하게 선정하여 글로컬 부문에서 18편, 장편 부문(국외)에서 2편의 작품을 선정하였습니다.

소중한 작품을 출품해주신 모든 작가님께 감사의 말씀을 전하며, 본선 진출작을 발표합니다.

A total of 1,053 works were submitted to this year's Seoul International ALT Cinema & Media Festival. As a result of fairly selecting the various works received from April 1 to May 10, 2023, 18 works in "Glocal Section" and 2 works in "Long-length Section" advanced to the finals.

The selected works will be screened at the Seoul International ALT Cinema & Media Festival, and the final winner will be selected after the screening during the festival (August 10 ~ August 22, 2023).

■ Review

세계 여러 나라에서 출품된 400여 편의 작품을 보며, 영화의 실험성과 대안성은 무한 확장 중이라는 것을 확인했다. 먼저 코로나19 팬데믹 시기를 거치며 많은 작가들이 자신과 주변을 돌아본 듯하다. 지극히 개인적인 이야기부터 세계 곳곳에서 벌어지고 있는 갈등의 현재와 과가 등까지 영화에 담긴 이야기의 스펙트럼도 매우 거대하다. 또한 오래된 앨범의 사진과 홈 비디오 등과 같은 아날로그 미디어부터 디지털 미디어, 소셜 미디어 콘텐츠 등 다양한 이미지 소스가 활용된 작품도 많았다. 집안, 골목, 거리, 도시, 자연으로 이어지는 공간에 대한 고찰도 인상 깊었다. 과거와 현재, 기억과 환상, 현실과 비현실, 실사와 애니메이션 혹은 그래픽 등의 화려한 이미지와 사운드까지 볼 것, 들을 것도 매우 풍부하다. 많은 이들이 이번 네마프를 통해 대안 영상 예술의 한계 없는 내용과 형식, 그리고 오감을 자극하는 작품을 느끼고, 함께 생각할 수 있으면 좋겠다. 

I could confirm that the experimentality and alternatives of the film are expanding indefinitely, while screening 401 works from all over the world. First of all, through the COVID-19 pandemic, many directors seem to have focused on themselves and their surroundings. From extremely personal stories to the present and overpriced conflicts taking place around the world, the spectrum of stories contained in the film is also very huge. In addition, there were many works that used various image sources from analog to digital media, such as home videos, photos of old albums, social media content, and so on. The consideration of the space leading to the house, alley, street, city, and nature was also impressive. There are also a lot of things to see and hear, including colorful images and sounds, past and present, memories and fantasies, reality and reality, real life and animation or graphics. I hope many audiences have chances to feel and think about the beautiful alternative video works at 2023 NeMaf.

이번 NeMaf 글로컬 부분에는 총 400여 편의 국내외 작품들이 지원했었다. 비록 공모의 취지와 다른 작품들도 일부 있었으나 우리 사회의 다른 모습을 실험적 방식으로 찾기 위한 영상 작품들이 다양하게 참여했다. 주목할 사실은 팬데믹의 영향으로 격리된 순간에도 새로운 시각적 실험을 하기 위해 노력한 열정적인 창작자들이 있었다는 점이다. 그것이 기존의 기록들을 다시 돌아보며 의미를 찾거나 제한된 공간에서도 바라보는 방식을 바꾸려고 했던 것이든 끊임없이 창작하고자 하는 열망의 표현이었음을 부정할 수 없다. 또한 새로운 창작 방식으로 지역과 이주, 성정체성, 감각 등의 주제를 시도하는 노력들이 많은 성과를 맺고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 창작의 주체도 이제는 나이, 성별, 지역에 국한되지 않고 다양해졌다는 점에서 심사자에게 큰 자극이 되었다. 많은 지원 작품의 창작자 모두에게 감사를 보냅니다.

A total of 400 domestic and foreign works applied for the NeMaf Glocal section. Although there were some works that were different from the purpose of the contest, various video works participated to find other aspects of our society in an experimental way. What is noteworthy is that there were enthusiastic creators who tried to conduct new visual experiments even at the moment of quarantine due to the effects of the pandemic. It cannot be denied that it was an expression of a desire to constantly create, whether it was to look back on existing records to find meaning or change the way they viewed even in a limited space. In addition, it was confirmed that efforts to try topics such as region, migration, gender identity, and sense through a new creative method have achieved a lot. The subject of creation has now been a great stimulus to the reviewer in that it is not limited to age, gender, and region. Thank you to all the creators of many supporting works.

제 23회 서울국제대안영상예술페스티벌 본선 진출 축하드립니다. 

선정된 작품은 제23회 서울국제대안영상예술페스티벌에서 상영되며, 행사 기간(2023년 8월 10일~22일) 중 본선심사를 거쳐 최종 수상작이 선정됩니다. 관심을 가지고 출품해 주신 모든 작가님들에게 다시 한 번 깊이 감사드립니다.

8월 10일부터 시작되는 올해의 네마프에도 지속적인 관심과 응원 부탁드립니다.
