1984년생. 한국예술종합학교 전문사에서 연출을 전공하였다. 2011년 발표한 단편 <나비는 지금 여기에 있었다>는 제12회 서울국제뉴미디어페스티벌을 포함해 장애인영화제(동상), 대한민국영상대전(아마추어 일반부 우수상), 홍콩독립단편영화제(특별언급) 등에서 상영되었으며 2013년 발표한 <괜찮아!>는 몬트리올국제영화제에서 상영된 바 있다. 이 작품은 <사형극장>(2013)에 이어 최근 발표된 신작이다.

Born in 1984, HWANG Kyu-il majored in film-making at the Korean National University of Arts graduate school. The 2011 short The Butterfly Which was Here Now screened at many film festivals such as the 12^th Seoul International New Media Festival, the Persons with Disabilities Film Festival where he came third, the Korean Visual Arts Festival, and the IFVA festival. The 2013 film It’s Okay!, a recent work that follows Death Theatre, screened at the Montreal World Film Festival.
