DESCRIPTION

강의는 자기 지시적 강연의 담론을 보여준다: 영국 억양을 가진 남자가 침착하게 강연들 속 강의에 대해 이야기 한다: 그는 주제를 끊임없이 반복하며 이야기한다. 이러한 특정 형식의 의사소통 방식을 묘사하고 또 그것들을 과장함으로써, 영화는 더 높은 수준으로 까지 끌어올려진다.그것은 대의 장치의 성격, 진리와 예술과 권력의 본성을 통해 매스 커뮤니케이션의 의미를 반영한다. 영화의 분위기와 방향은 담론이 진행되면서 점차 강렬해진다. 관객은 이 강사로 인해 피로해지고 긴장하기 시작한다. 강사는 점점 더 흥분을 하게 되고, 우리는 그의 머릿속에 무슨 일이 일어나고 있는지 궁금해한다. 결국 이 알 수 없는 강의의 결말에 놀라게 된다.

Lecture presents the discourse of a self-referential lecture: a British speaking, very collected male lecturer talks about lectures in a lecture: he winds the theme up in a loop. By portraying all the particular conditions of this form of communication and by exaggerating them, the film operates on a meta level.It reflects on the meaning of mass communication, on the character of representational devices, and on the nature of truth, art and power. The mood and the discourse progress along the film with increasing intensity. The audience is becoming more and more annoyed by the lecturer, and the tension builds up. The lecturer becomes more and more agitated and when we wonder what is going on with this hothead, we are surprised by the ending of this curious lecture.

 

마누엘 사이스

마누엘 사이스는 1980년대에 스페인에서 예술가로 활동을 시작해, 그림, 조각, 사진, 설치미술 작품 등을 만들었다. 그의 전시는 전 세계의 공공 및 상업 갤러리에서 꾸준히 소개되고 있다. 2005년에는 'Specialized technicians Required: Being Luis Porcar'라는 작품을 널리 선보였고, 이 작품으로 Winterthur Kurtzt film Festival에서 대상을 받았다. 그의 설치미술은 도쿄 인터커뮤니케이션 센터, 독일 트랜스미디알레, 런던 화이트 채플 갤러리와 ICA 등에서 전시되었다. 

Manuel Saiz

Manuel Saiz started working as an artist in the 1980’s in Spain, creating paintings, sculptures, photography and installations. He shows regularly since then in public and commercial galleries worldwide. In 2005 he produced Specialized technicians Required: Being Luis Porcar, which was shown widely and got the first Prize in the Winterthur Kurtzt film Festival.His installations have been shown in Intercommunication Center (Tokyo), Transmediale (Berlin), White Chapel gallery (London), ICA (London), among others.
