러시아 국립영화대학을 졸업했으며 1998<벌이 날다>로 테살로니키 국제영화제 은상. 토리노 국제영화제 대상, 비평가상, 관객상. 코트부스 국제영화제 예술 공헌상, 관객상. 아나파 국제영화제 감독상 등을 수상했으며 2001<괜찮아, 울지마>로 카를로비바리 국제영화제 특별 언급상, 비평가상. 테살로니키 국제영화제 예술 공헌상을 수상하였다. 2006<포도나무를 베어라>로 부산국제영화제 PPP 코닥상을 수상하였으며 2014년 <터치>로 마리클레르 영화제 특별상 수상 및 가톨릭 매스컴상을 수상과 함께 영상자료원 올해의 영화로 선정되기도 했다. 2015년 부산국제영화제와 함부르크국제영화제에서 <사랑이 이긴다>가 상영되었으며 또한 <펑정지에는 펑정지에다>는 전주국제영화제 및 서울독립영화제에서초청상영되었다.

The director graduated from VGIK (the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography). He has received a number of awards including the silver prize at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, the grand prize, the critics award and the audience award at the Torino Film Festival, the art contribution award and the audience award at the Film Festival Cottbus and the art director award at the Anapa International Film Festival with Bee Fly in 1998. In 2001, he won jury special mention and critics award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and the art contribution award at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival with Let’s Not Cry. Pruning The Grapevine brought him the PPP Kodak award at the Busan Internationl Film Festival in 2006. Touch, which won the special award and the catholic mass communication award at the Marie Claire Film Festival in 2014, was selected as the film of the year by Korean Film Archive. In 2015, Love Never Fails was screened at the Busan International Film Festival and the Hamburg International Short Film Festival. In the same year, I’m Feng was invited and screened at the Jeonju International Film Festival and the Seoul Independent Film Festival.
