Artist's Statement

<한국 난민 캠프> 미래를 체념하고 떠나온 사람들의 표류를 추적한다. ‘한국 난민’은 멀지 않은 미래에서 출발한 사람들이었다. 모든 시스템의 균형이 어긋난 미래에서 그들은 살 수 없었다. 난민들은 새로운 세계를 원했고 생존을 원했다. 그들은 국가의 경계와 시간의 경계를 떠돌다가 현재 이곳에 흘러 들어와 난민을 자청하게 된 사연을 들려주었다. 멈출 수 없는 과거의 환영, 멈출 수 있는 미래의 환영. 그리고 불완전한 시공으로 사라진 개인.

“대한민국에는 정치, 사회, 교육, 문화 등 여러 시스템이 존재합니다. 가까운 미래, 그 모든 것들이 불균형으로 극대화된 상황을 상상해보세요. 그곳에서 당신은 체념하고 있나요? 우리는 모두 난민이 되었습니다. 한국 난민을 환영합니다.”

K-Refugees: Camp keeps track the drift of the people who have left the future. K-Refugees were those who set off from a faraway future. They couldn’t live in unbalanced future of all systems. They wanted a new world and survival. They tell us about the story where they flowed into this place and volunteered for refugees. The illusionary of the past that cannot be stopped, the illusionary of the future that can be stopped, and an individual who has gone missing due to incomplete construction.

“There are many systems in Korean society such as politics, society, education and culture. Imagine the situation in the future that everything is extremely unbalanced. Do you feel helpless in that system? Every citizens in Korea have become refugees. Welcome to K-Refugees.”

차지량

차지량은 ‘시스템에 상상력을 제안하는 개인’에 초점을 맞춘 참여 프로젝트를 진행하며, 주제별 현장을 개설하는 작업을 이어왔다. <세대독립클럽>(2010), <일시적 기업>(2011), <new home>(2012), <한국난민>시리즈(2014~2024)까지. 전시와 다원예술제, 영화제와 다양한 미디어를 통해 작품을 발표했다.

 

 

CHA Jiryang

Cha Jiryang's research focuses on individuals within isolated contemporary systems through both independent and collaborative projects such as K-Refugees(2014-2024) new home(2012), Temporary Enterprise(2011), and Independent Club of Indi-Gen(2010). He is interested in politics, education and culture in relation to Korean society, and explores an apocalyptical, yet solidary future and the audience's role to disrupt it through media and language.
