ARTIST'S NOTE

쥘베른의 소설 ‘해저 2만리’로부터 포착한 아이러니한 인간의 지식과 얽힌 세계상을 흑백 슬라이드 작업으로 제시했다. 롯데타워 지하의 아쿠아리움과 지상의 스카이라운지에서 촬영한 이미지를 서로 중첩시켜 어떤 곳이든 초단거리로 이동이 가능한 현실을 반영했다. 쥘베른의 시대로부터 시작된 진보와 미래의 인류에 대한 의문은 일제치하 조선의 학생들이 번역한 ‘태극학보’로 이어지고 이는 무진형제의 작업 제목인 ‘목하, 세계진문’으로 확장된다. 제목에서 目下는 ‘바로 지금’을, ‘世界珍問’은 세계에 대한 참된 의문을 뜻한다.

We are presented the world's image, which is entangled with ironic human knowledge captured from Jules Verne's novel "Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea," as a black-and-white slide projector. Film images taken at the underground aquarium of Lotte Tower and at the Sky Lounge on the ground overlapped each other. It reflected the fact that any place in reality can be moved at a very short distance. Questions about progress and future humanity, which began with the Jules Verne era, will lead to "Taegeuk Journal," translated by students of Joseon under Japanese colonization, which will be expanded to the title of the Moojin brothers' work, "Now, Curiosity About the World." In the title, `目下` means 'right now,' and `世界珍問' means ‘the real question about the world’.

 무진형제 

무진형제는 정무진(1979), 정효영(1983), 정영돈(1988) 세 명으로 구성된 미디어 아트 그룹으로, 평범한 사람들의 이야기로부터 낯설고 기이한 감각과 사유의 조각들을 포착해 다양한 미술적 방식으로 재구성함으로써 우리 삶의 기반을 탐색하는 작업을 하고 있다. 무진형제는 동시대의 복잡한 시대상을 보다 넓은 관점에서 바라보며 사유하기 위해, 현재의 공간과 사건들을 고전 텍스트의 언어나 신화적 이미지 등과 중첩시켜 풀어낸 뒤 이를 다양한 시대의 기술 매체 속에서 제시한다. 2018년 백남준아트센터-메자닌 스페이스에서 개인전 《여름으로 가는 문》을 개최했으며, 《플립북: 21세기 애니메이션의 혁명》(2018, 일민미술관, 서울), 《Video Portrait》(2017, 토탈미술관, 서울), 《European Media Art Festival》(2016, 오스나부르크, 독일), 《18th FESTCURTAS BH》(2016, 마이나스 제라이스, 브라질)등의 단체전과 스크리닝에 참여했다.

 Moojin Brothers

Moojin Brothers is a media artist group that consists of Mujin Jung(1979), Hyoyoung Jung(1983), and Youngdon Jung(1988). They capture strange and eccentric senses and images from stories of people around them, and highlight the new and unfamiliar aspects in our lives. They reconstruct the lives of ordinary people like laborers, writers and youth in various artistic ways and capture various artistic meanings from them. Also, they develop myths or legends from deep inside our lives, historical exploration of time and space and reinterpretation of classical text into film language. They had solo exhibition “The Door into Summer”(2018) at Nam June Paik Art Center - Mezzanine Space, and have participated in several group exhibitions and screenings such as “Flip Book: The Revolutionary Animation of the 21th Century”, (2018, Ilmin Museum of Art, Korea), “Video Portrait”, (2017, Total Museum for Contemporary Art, Korea),“European Media Art Festival” (2016, Osnabrück, Germany), “18th FESTCURTAS BH” (2016, Minas Gerais, Brazil).
