  존 뮤즈John Muse

  존 뮤즈(John Muse)는 실험 영화, 설치 작업, 회화 작업을 병행하고 비평도 집필하는 작가다. 현재 미국 하버포드 칼리지(Haverford College)에서 시각예술학과 조교수로 재직 중이다.
  
  1988년부터 그는 잔 C. 핀리(Jeanne C. Finley)와 함께 수많은 실험 다큐멘터리 및 멀티채널 비디오 설치 작업을 공동으로 제작해왔다.
  이들의 작품은 샌프란시스코 국제영화제, 베를린 비디오 페스티벌, 토론토, 월드 와이드 비디오 페스티벌 등 국내외 주요 페스티벌과 갤러리에서 상영·전시되었으며, 국제 유대인 영화제, 샬럿 영화제, 블랙 마리아 영화제 등에서 수상하기도 했다.
  
  핀리+뮤즈(Finley+Muse)는 2009년 플래허티 세미나(Flaherty Seminar)의 주목 작가로 초청되었으며, 2002년 로커펠러 재단 미디어 아트 펠로우십, 2000년 크리에이티브 캐피탈 재단의 그랜트를 수상했고, 1995–96년에는 제록스 팔로알토 리서치 센터의 레지던시 작가로 활동했다.

  John Muse makes experimental films, installation works, and paintings, writes criticism, and is currently Assistant Professor of Visual Studies at Haverford College.
  
  Since 1988, Muse has collaborated with Jeanne C. Finley on numerous experimental documentaries and multi-channel video installations. These works have been exhibited nationally and internationally at festivals and galleries, including the San Francisco International Film Festival, Berlin Video Festival, Toronto, and the World Wide Video Festival. Their works have also won awards at festivals such as the International Jewish Festival, the Charlotte Film Festival, and the Black Maria Film & Video Festival.
  
  Finley+Muse were featured artists at the 2009 Flaherty Seminar, received a Rockefeller Foundation Media Arts Fellowship in 2002, a Creative Capital Foundation Grant in 2000, and served as Artists in Residence at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center from 1995 to 1996.
  
  Their film, video, and installation credits include Sleeping Under Stars, Living Under Satellites (2010),
  Imaginative Feats Literally Presented: Three Fables for Video Projection (2009), The Trial of Harmony
  and Invention (2003), The Adventures of Blacky (1999), and O Night Without Objects (1998).
  
  Muse has also collaborated on projects with numerous other artists, including Megan Bridge, Carmen Papalia, Brendamaris Rodriguez, Mason Rosenthal, Laurie Wigham, and Pamela Z.
  
  His recent films have been screened at the Athens International Film and Video Festival in Athen OH,
  Flex Fest in Tampa FL, the Ribalta Experimental Film Festival, and other venues.
