DESCRIPTION

일제 강점기에는 일본군이 주둔했다가 한국전쟁 이후 미2사단 포병여단 본부인 캠프스탠리가 들어서게 되면서 형성된 빼뻘은 전쟁과 폭력에 시달려온 땅과 사람들의 이야기를 고스란히 담고 있는 곳이다. VR을 통해 마을 곳곳을 담아내고자 했던 일련의 여정은 장소에 얽힌 기억들을 현재로 불러들이는 연결과 접속의 과정이면서도 빽빽하게 뒤엉킨 채 끊임없이 변화하는 일종의 생명체와 같은 곳이 지역-공동체의 장소임을 인식하게 한다. 장소 그리고 장소에 대한 기억, 기록에 대한 실체는 고정된 것이 아닌 파편화된 것에 가깝다.

Formed as a Japanese military base during the Japanese occupation and then as Camp Stanley, the headquarters of the US 2nd Artillery Brigade after the Korean War, Ppaepeorl tells the story of a land and people plagued by war and violence. The series of journeys through the town in VR is a process of connection and access that brings the memories of the place into the present, but also recognizes that the place of the local community is a kind of living thing that is densely intertwined and constantly changing. The entities of place, memories of place, and records are more fragmented than fixed.
