이 작품은 추상 비디오 아트로, 초기 디지털 비디오 기술을 활용했다. 존 샌본과 딘 윈클러는 비디오 층위의 다중 생성을 사용하여 비디오 애니메이션을 실험했고, 유동적인 물체와 움직임으로 가득한 정신적인 풍경을 묘사했다. 작품을 위해 필립 글래스는 자신의 음악극 <사진가>의 제3막을 특별히 편집했는데, 그 작품은 에드워드 마이브리지의 비참한 인생 이야기를 전한다. 이 작품은 필립 글래스를 유명하게 만든 음악의 층위들과 동기화되는 여정으로, 하나의 '상태'에서 다른 '상태'로 이동하는 것을 의도하고 있다. 오프닝에 나오는 소녀는 줄리엣 글래스이다. 요코하마 애니메이션 페스티벌에서 컴퓨터 그래픽 부문 1등상을 받았다. 이 작품에는 컴퓨터 그래픽 요소가 전혀 없다.

Abstract video art. Use of early digital video technology. John Sanborn along with Dean Winckler had experimented in video animation using multiple generations of video layers to describe mental landscapes filled with fluid objects and motion. For this work Philip Glass made a special edit of the third act of his musical play, "The Photographer" which tells the sad tale of the life of Eadweard Muybridge. This work is intended as a journey from one "state" to another in synchronicity with the layers of music for which Glass is famous. The girl in the opening is Juliet Glass. Winner of the Yokohama Animation Festival First Prize for Computer Graphics. This work contains zero computer graphics.
