  소피아 멜리코바는 아제르바이잔 차후르 출신으로, 현재 러시아 상트페테르부르크에서 학제간 예술가이자 영화 제작자로 활동하고 있다. 소피아의 주요 관심 분야는 원주민, 대표되지 않거나 주변화된 공동체, 환경 문제, 고대 의식, 사라지는 문화와 언어 등으로, 특히 코카서스 지역에 주목하고 있다. 소피아는 시각 예술, 전통적인 민족 성가를 포함한 목소리, 무용 및 기타 퍼포먼스적인 실천을 자신의 예술과 다큐멘터리 작품에 적용하고 있다.

  Sofia Melikova is an ethnic Azerbaijanian Tsakhur multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker currently based in St. Petersburg, Russia. Sofia’s main fields of interest include: Indigenous peoples, underrepresented and marginalized communities, environmental issues, ancient rituals, disappearing cultures and languages with a special focus on the Caucasus region. Sofia applies visual arts, voice, including traditional ethnic chants, dance and other performative practices in her art and documentary works.
