기후위기의 시대이며, 인수공통감염병의 시대이자, 불확실함의 시대이다.
우리가 지구에서 채 50년도 살아갈 수 있을지 확신할 수 없는 상황 속에서 지금 여기에서 사랑하고 있는 우리는 어떻게 살아야 할까.
사랑이 거처하는 지금-여기의 시대가 모호하고 위태로울 때, ‘사랑할 수 있는가?’ 라는 질문은, 일종의 폭로이자 암시이다.

영화는 이 물음의 앞에, 아직 오지 않은 죽음을 도착시킨다.
사랑하는 이에게 명이나물을 먹여주던 손가락 화석이 1억 5천만년이란- 분간할 수 없는 시간성 속에서 출현할 때,
지금-여기의 시간을 구성하던 선형적 시간은 뒤섞이며 필연적으로 죽음으로 향하는 연대기적 시간은 파쇄된다.

결국 화석은 사랑할 수 있는가? 라는 질문에 그렇다고 답하기 위한 기지다.
죽음을 지시하는 동시에 죽음을 초과하는 화석과의 대면을 통해, 세계가 전혀 다르게 역동할 것이라는 믿음이다.
진보하는 미래도 퇴보하는 과거도 아닌, 죽음도 삶도 아닌, 그 이분법에서의 탈바꿈을 시도하려는 사랑이다.

It's the era of climate crisis, zoonosis, and uncertainty. In the circumstance we can't be sure to live the next 50 years on the earth, how should we, being here and now with love, live on? As the era of 'Here and Now', where the love dwells, is obscure and precarious, the question of 'Could we love?' is a kind of disclosure and implication.

Ahead of the question, this film gets the unarrived death to arrive.
As the finger fossil, giving ramps to the loved one, appears in a hundred and fifty million years which can't be distinguished, a linear time composing the time of 'Here and Now' would be jumbled and a chronological time inevitably heading to death would be fragmentized.

It's a wit for saying affirmatively to this question ' Could the fossil love after all?'. it's a belief for the world diametrically being dynamic, by facing the fossil which indicates and exceed the death simultaneously. It's a love for trying to transformation from the dichotomy that is not the advancing future, the regressing past, or the death and the life.
