ARTIST'S NOTE
<전남 해남 우수영의 진돗개>는 한국에 남아있는 개가 찍힌, 가장 오래된 사진 중 하나다. 이 사진은 일제강점기 조선총독부의 지원을 받아 식민지 조선을 대상으로 조사를 진행했던 도리이 류조의 사료 조사에 포함되어 있다. 사진 속 인간과, 그 곁에 함께 기록된 개, 그리고 이를 기록한 저자를 살펴본다. 개를 비롯한 비인간이 인간과 함께 걸어 온 시간을 발굴하며, 지금 내 곁의 개를 다시 보고자 한다.
<Jin Do Dog of Wooseoyoung, Haenam, Jeollanam-do> is one of the oldest photographs of a dog existing in Korea. This image is part of the material research of Ryuzo Torii, who undertook studies on colonial Korea with the support of the Japanese Government-General of Korea during the colonial era. The photo invites scrutiny of the human present, the dog recorded by their side, and the author who captured this moment. It beckons a rediscovery of the times non-human beings, including dogs, have traversed with humans, encouraging a renewed look at the dogs beside us now.
DESCRIPTION
20세기 초 한국을 방문한 일본인 학자는 수많은 유리건판 사진을 남겼다.
화자는 그의 사진들 속에서 개의 사진을 발견한다.
그리고 100여 년 전 개의 이야기를 따라간다.
In the early 20th century, a Japanese scholar visiting Korea left behind numerous glass-plate photographs. The narrator discovers images of dogs among his photographs and embarks on a journey tracing the stories of dogs from over a century ago.

권동현×권세정(2020년 결성, 서울 활동)은 인간-동물과 비인간-동물 구도의 이분법적 사고를 벗어나 뒤엉킨 상황, 연결의 순간, 사랑의 관계로 조명하는 이야기와 이미지를 좇고 있다. 현실 속 대상을 탐구하는 다큐멘터리의 영상 방법론과 사물과 관념 사이에 놓인 조각의 방법론, 즉 상호보완적인 두 매체를 통해 발화하는 방법을 모색한다. 서울미디어시티비엔날레 사전프로그램 《테라인포밍》(2022, 서울시립미술관), 프리즈 필름 서울 2022 《I Am My Own Other》 등에 참여했으며, 제49회 서울독립영화제(2023) ‘새로운 선택’ 부문에서 다큐멘터리 ‹러브 데스 도그›(2023)를 선보였다.
Gwon Dong Hyun × Sea Jung Kwon (formed in 2020, based in Seoul) attempts to escape the dichotomy of human and animal by pursuing narratives and images that explore this relationship in terms of entanglement, connection, and love. They work with documentary that navigates reality as well as sculptural practice that lies between objects and ideas, using both artistic mediums to develop their language. They have participated in the 12th Seoul Mediacity pre-Biennale 《Terrainfomring》 (2022, Seoul Museum of Art), Frieze Film Seoul 2022 《I AM MY OWN OTHER》, and recently premiered a documentary Love Death Dog (2023) at the 49th Seoul Independent Film Festival.
