제22회 서울국제대안영상예술페스티벌 글로컬신작전 및 장편신작전(해외) 본선진출작을 발표합니다!

We are announcing the final entry of the NeMaf Glocal Propose/Long-length Propose!  

 
올해 서울국제대안영상예술페스티벌에는 총 1,475편(상영 1,391편, 전시 84편)의 작품이 출품되었습니다.
2022년 3월 11일부터 5월 9일까지 접수된 다채로운 작품들을 공정하게 선정한 결과, 글로컬신작전에서 25편, 장편신작전(해외)에서 2편의 작품이 본선에 진출했습니다.
선정된 작품은 서울국제대안영상예술페스티벌에서 상영되며, 행사 기간(2022. 08. 18~26) 중 본선심사를 거쳐 최종 수상작이 선정됩니다.
소중한 작품을 출품해주신 모든 작가님께 감사의 말씀을 전하며, 상영작을 발표합니다.

A total of 1,475 works were submitted to this year's Seoul International ALT Cinema & Media Festival. As a result of fairly selecting the various works received from March 11 to May 9, 2022, 25 works in "Glocal Propose" and 2 works in "Long-length Propose" advanced to the finals.

The selected works will be screened at the Seoul International ALT Cinema & Media Festival, and the final winner will be selected after the screening during the festival (August 18 ~ August 26, 2022).

■ Review

올해 접수된 수백 편의 출품작 중에서 총 25편의 단편 작품과 2편의 장편 작품을 선정했습니다. 끝나지 않은 코로나의 영향으로 내러티브 영화는 물론이고 실험 영화와 애니메이션 모두에서 신체적, 정서적 고립이라는 주제가 지배적이었습니다. 우리는 경제적, 생태적, 그리고 사회적 측면에서 전례 없는 불확실성의 시대에 직면해 있습니다. 선정위원과 함께 선택한 작품들은 관객들이 점점 더 취약한 개인으로 원자화되는 시대에 집단행동과 연대를 위한 전략에 대해 생각하는 데 도움이 되길 바랍니다. 이러한 의미에서 우리는 무시되고 알려지지 않은 고통과 폭력의 역사를 밝히는 작품에서 가치를 찾았지만, 동시에 도전, 회복, 재생의 정신이 담긴 작품과 병치시키려 했습니다. 또한 네마프의 정신에 맞춰 뉴미디어의 새로운 형식적, 양식적 장치를 접목하여 스토리텔링의 한계를 뛰어넘은 작품을 많이 선정하도록 했습니다. 이 작품들이 관객들에게 인간주의적 차원에서 감동을 주면서도 창의성과 독창성으로 즐거움을 선사하기를 바랍니다.

A total of 25 short works and 2 feature works were selected among hundreds of works submitted this year. The theme of physical and emotional isolation was dominant in both experimental film and animation as well as a narrative movie due to corona that never ends. We are facing the era of unprecedented uncertainty from economic, ecological, and social aspects. 
We hope the works selected with the members of the selection committee will help to think of the strategy for group action and solidarity in the era when the audience is atomized into increasingly vulnerable individuals. In this sense, we find value in works that reveal a history of pain and violence that have been neglected and unknown, but at the same time, we tried to juxtapose them with works of a spirit of challenge, recovery, and renewal. In addition, we tried to select many works that are beyond the limit of storytelling by combining new formal and stylistic devices of new media in line with the spirit of Nemaf. We hope this work will impress the audience on a humanistic level, while also providing joy with creativity and originality.

심사를 진행하는 동안, 두 질문을 계속해서 되뇌었다. 첫째, 네마프(서울국제대안영상예술페스티벌)는 무엇을 기대하는 장소인가? 둘째, 영상 예술과 그 작품은 무슨 기대를 하고 있는가? 수많은 작품들 중 몇몇을 가려내는 일은 이 질문에 대답하고 또 질문을 포개어 보는 과정과 다르지 않았다. 두 질문 모두에서 ‘기대하다’라는 표현을 쓴 이유는, 나는 ‘대안’이라는 것을 무언가를 기다리기, 나아가 기다리는 무언가를 불러 오기라고 이해하기 때문이다. 물론 여기서 ‘무언가’라는 것은 현실을 구성하는 것들 바깥의 것들을 뜻하고 그런 것이어야만 ‘대안’과 ‘기대하다’의 관계는 성립할 것이다. 이런 맥락에서 나는 영화가 어떻게 ‘무언가를 기대하는 일’이 될 수 있는지를 고민하고, ‘영화를 통해 기대를 하는’ 작품들을 발견하려 노력했다. 이런 행위들이 보여지는 장소에서, 우리는 우리가 무엇을 기대해야 하는지에 대해서 되돌아 숙고해볼 수 있을지도 모른다. 

While screening the works, two questions lingered continuously. First, what does Nemaf(Seoul International ALT Cinema & Media Festival) expect in this place? Second, what do video art and its works expect? Selecting some from numerous works is not different from the process of asking the question and overlapping the question. The reason why I use ‘expect’ in both questions is because I understand ‘alternative’ as waiting for something, one step further, bringing something that I wait. Of course, here ‘something’ means the outer things that form the reality, and under such a condition, the relation between ‘alternative’ and ‘expect’ will establish. From this perspective, I think of how films will be ‘the work that can expect something’, and tried to find the works ‘expecting through film’. In the place where these actions are shown, we may ponder back what we should expect.

59개 나라에서 출품된 1,475편의 영상작품 속에서 옥석을 가리는 일은 불가능하다. 내가 할 수 있는 일은 오로지 주제별로 구분하는 역할뿐이다. 작품과 관객과의 좋은 만남을 중재하는 그 역할이 내가할 수 있는 전부다. 선정된 작품들의 주제는 영상을 통해 우리의 온몸을 휘감는다. 먼 나라의 문제 혹은 타인의 문제가 내 몸으로 직접 다가오는 바로 그 결정적 순간을 온전히 경험하길 바란다. 모든 작품들은 이를 위해 존재한다.

It is impossible to cover the jade among the 1,475 video works submitted from 59 countries. What I can do is only the role to distinguish them by theme. All the thing that I can do is to mediate the good meeting between work and audiences. The theme of selected works wraps all of our bodies through video. Please fully experience the decisive moment when a problem in a distant country or someone else's problem comes directly into your body. All works exist for this purpose.
